Terms of Use

1. Your license

RenameWise is licensed, not sold. A paid license grants you a personal, non-exclusive right to install and use the app on the number of Macs your tier includes (Pro: 2; Team: per seat purchased), for any lawful purpose, commercial work included. The free tier grants the same right within its documented limits. You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute the app or its bundled model, or attempt to pass the license check off to others.

2. Free tier

The free tier is genuinely free and not time-limited: previewing proposed names is unlimited and always will be. Its limit (currently: a total number of applied renames) is described on the pricing page and may change between versions — but never retroactively in a way that touches files you've already renamed.

3. Purchases & refunds

Purchases are processed by our merchant of record, who is the seller of record and handles payment, invoicing and applicable taxes under their own terms. We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee: email support@renamewise.com with your order number within 14 days of purchase for a full refund, no questions asked.

4. Your files & your responsibility

RenameWise proposes names generated by an AI model. AI can be wrong, which is exactly why the app is built the way it is: nothing changes on disk until you approve it, existing files are never overwritten, and every rename is journaled for undo. You are responsible for reviewing proposed names before applying them, and for keeping the backups any prudent person keeps of important data. Renames performed by the app are yours: you approved them.

5. Updates

A one-time license includes all updates within its major version (for example, everything in 1.x). Subscription licenses include all updates while active. We may release paid major upgrades in the future; you'll never be forced onto one, and your current version keeps working.

6. Bundled AI model

The app downloads and runs a third-party open-weights vision model under that model's own license terms. The model runs entirely on your device; you may not extract and redistribute it separately from the app except as the model's own license permits.

7. No warranty

The app is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We work hard to make it reliable — journaled renames, never-overwrite guarantees, checksummed downloads — but we can't promise it is free of defects.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including data loss — see section 4 on review and backups.

9. Termination

You can stop using the app at any time; deleting it and ~/.airenamer/ removes it completely. We may revoke a license obtained fraudulently (for example, after a chargeback). A revoked or lapsed license returns the app to the free tier — it never disables access to your files, your history, or your undo journal.

10. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the update will be posted here with a new date. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance; material changes to paid features will be flagged in release notes.
